Police rescued three boys from drowning at Marina Beach on Saturday evening. According to police officers, the boys, Logesh, Parthiban and Vetrivel, all aged 17, had come to the city from Cuddalore on an educational tour along with 20 other students.

Before heading back, the boys went to the beach, entered the water and nearly drowned before Coast Guard officers spotted and rescued them.

However, officers said that another student, S. Siva Ganapathi (16), a resident of Virudhachalam, who had also gone swimming, was missing. “We suspect he may have drowned. But the search is going on,” said an officer from Marina police station.
