A city advocate has filed a public interest litigation petition in the Madras High Court seeking a direction to the authorities to immediately arrest the army personnel responsible for the killing of a 13-year-old boy in the city on Sunday.

The boy, Dilson, was shot in the head in the defence residential complex, located near the Island Grounds.

In his petition, P.Pugalenthi said the act of shooting the boy was barbaric. It was unfortunate that the police could not nab the culprit even two days after the incident. The crime should be speedily investigated and the culprit should be promptly brought to justice. As the State had failed to act swiftly, he was filing the PIL petition.

The petitioner also sought a direction to the army authorities to extend their cooperation to the CB-CID in the investigation.
