Two youths beat a 14-year-old boy to death on Friday following a quarrel over a missing mobile phone belonging to one of them. They were arrested by police and booked for murder.

Sources with the Velachery police identified the victim as Karthik, who was working as a lorry cleaner at a Metro Water pumping station on Velachery Bypass Road.

The incident took place around 10.30 p.m. at the pumping station after Ilango (26), a water lorry driver, and cleaner Guru (22) questioned Karthik over Ilango’s mobile phone that went missing a few days ago.
