Book on clinical medicine released

A range of technology initiatives and medical publications were launched on Friday when Apollo Hospitals celebrated its Founders’ Day.

Launching the book Clinical Medicine Made Easy , authored by T.V. Devarajan and L. Vijayasundaram, at Apollo Hospitals on Greams Road on Friday, Apollo Group Chairman Prathap C. Reddy stressed the need for an ecosystem where patient safety was placed above everything else.

Technologies said to be capable of facilitating treatment for people in inaccessible areas were launched.

Pointing out that around 60,000 settlements in the country had been identified for telemedicine facilities, Dr. Reddy said more number of people in States such as Himachal Pradesh would benefit from such initiatives.

Speaking about the book he has authored, Apollo Hospitals Senior Consultant Physician T.V. Devarajan said: “It is the final word about clinical medicine. It is a pocket book students can carry. All the photos and charts are our own. It is easy to read and an exam-oriented book. It took four years to write. It is useful for students of MBBS, BDS, B. Pharm. and M.D.”

Dr. Devarajan served as a teacher at Madras Medical College under the guidance of K.V. Thiruvengadam for 28 years.

He has been serving as senior consultant physician at Apollo Hospitals, Chennai, since 1986. He has 28 publications to his credit. He is the recipient of Dr. B.C. Roy National Award as an eminent medical teacher.
