Police investigating the murder of Ramesh of Chennai retrieved his bones and skull from a well near the Municipal Staff Quarters here on Thursday.

Ramesh was allegedly murdered by Amalraj of Arunthathi Palayam, and his friends Masthan and Bilal residing near Siva Kanchi police station. They were hired by Ramesh's wife Sowmya, her mother, Lakshmi and their friend, Sumathi, a flower vender, in February. Ramesh's body was dumped in a barren well, police said.

While Amalraj surrendered at a court in Villupuram district a few days ago, police had earlier arrested a cab driver Murugan of Little Kancheepuram, whose vehicle was used by the culprits to kidnap Ramesh. Subsequently, Sowmya and Lakshmi were arrested.

The murder of Ramesh came to light on September 26 after an autorickshaw driver, Ashok Kumar of Kancheepuram, sought police protection from a gang which kidnapped Ramesh in a car from Kilambi in February.

Ashok Kumar informed the police that two women and a man hired his vehicle at Oli Mohammedpet to reach Kilambi.

When the autorickshaw reached Kilambi, three persons alighted from a car waiting there and forcibly took away the man who accompanied the women in the autorickshaw .

Subsequently, the women asked Ashok Kumar to drop them back at Oli Mohammedpet.
