Bomb scare at school

September 04, 2012 11:08 am | Updated 11:08 am IST - CHENNAI:

Panic prevailed for over an hour on Monday morning at the Thai Sathya Matriculation School in Rajamannar Salai, K.K. Nagar following a bomb threat.

K.K. Nagar police sources said around 8.45 a.m., an anonymous caller informed the police control room that a bomb was planted on the school campus. A bomb squad was sent and a thorough inspection was carried out after evacuating the campus.

The threat proved a hoax and classes resumed. However, parents gathered outside the school, demanding that they be allowed to take their wards home. A police team pacified them. Investigations revealed that a boy in a school uniform made the call from a medical shop on West Vanniyar Street near the school.
