Body seen at sea near Kasimedu harbour

March 21, 2013 11:13 am | Updated 11:13 am IST - CHENNAI:

A group of fishermen belonging to the Kottivakkam fishing hamlet spotted a body floating in the sea on Wednesday evening.

The fishermen believe it could be that of T. Anandan (45), a fisherman who went missing on March 17. Sources said the body, clad in a black T-shirt and white shorts, was seen at a distance of about 50 metres from the entry/exit point of Kasimedu Harbour.

The Kottivakkam fishermen, who were returning after a day of fishing, noted down the GPS coordinates and passed it on to the fishermen of Kasimedu, who in turn said they had alerted the Coast Guard.

The fishermen have planned to go out to sea on Thursday and help retrieve the body.

Anandan, of Tiruvottiyur Kuppam, had left his home at 1.30 a.m. on Saturday along with R. Viji and S. Santhosh on an FRP boat, and went missing after a ship heading to the Chennai Port hit the boat.
