Bhadra, the mongrel puppy who was thrown off a terrace, is recovering well from her injuries and was taken for a review check-up to the Madras Veterinary College in Vepery.

Animal welfare activist Antony Rubin said that the veterinarians were extremely happy with her progress and had placed her in a plaster-of-paris cast to decrease the stress on the bones that were injured.

“She has made huge progress and the doctors have asked us to wait for another week after which there will be another review of her condition. She is extremely friendly and her spirit hasn’t lessened,” he said.

The puppy has been de-wormed and vaccinated as well and the doctors have said that she does not need surgery at present.

“She will have a limp though, and hopefully, after the final review, she will not have to go through an invasive procedure,” Mr. Rubin said.

Animal welfare activists Shravan Krishnan, Jennifer Jacob, Murali Anand and Mr. Rubin tracked down Bhadra after a video of her being flung off a terrace by a medical student went viral online.

The puppy, who is currently being fostered by a friend of the activists’, has got many people coming forward to adopt her though no decision has been taken yet. Animal lovers have been following her recovery via social media.
