A city-based auditor has lodged a complaint with Egmore police that a courier company that was to bring him a mobile phone from his relative in Coimbatore had instead delivered a stone.
J. Ravi Sanker (40), an auditor from Gengu Road, Egmore, told The Hindu on Tuesday that his relative in Coimbatore had couriered his Samsung Duos handset worth Rs. 10,000 that the former had left behind in the city recently. The parcel through a courier company was booked on November 14.
The courier agency marked it as writing material and sent it to Sanker.
“The next evening, my wife Shantalakshmi received the parcel at home and was shocked to see a stone inside instead of the mobile phone. While we contacted the agency’s local office here, my relative Nandakumar approached the Coimbatore office but failed to get a convincing response. I then approached the police,” the auditor added displaying the carton with the stone.
Egmore police has registered a complaint on the matter and a probe is under way.
