The Madras High Court on Friday granted conditional bail to Malayalam actor Leena Maria Paul who was arrested in a cheating case here.
Her boyfriend, Sukesh Chandrasekar, is also involved in the case — alleged cheating of a nationalised bank in Ambattur.
According to the prosecution, Chandrasekar had obtained a loan of Rs. 19 crore by submitting fake documents. He had duped individuals by posing as an IAS officer and Leena acted as his secretary.
Justice Rajendran said Leena Maria Paul should be released on bail on execution of a bond for Rs. 2 lakh and two sureties for Rs. 1 lakh each. She should also surrender her passport to the court concerned.
