From the problem of poor street lights to increasing dust pollution, a number of civic issues pertaining to the neighbourhood were discussed recently at a meeting organised by the Ayanavaram Exnora Innovators Club.
K. Ramadoss, president of the club, said many works undertaken by Metrowater, sewerage board, Corporation and TANGEDCO remained pending.
The dust and air pollution on Konnur High Road was the cause of concern for S. Devendran of P. A. Koil Street Civic Exnora. S.A. Adhikesavan of Venkatesapuram Colony Civic Exnora said South Street was pothole-ridden, hindering the smooth flow of traffic. The road leads to Medavakkam Tank Road on the eastern side of the colony.
K. Saravanan of P.E. Koil area was vexed about the sewage overflow, particularly near Railway Quarters bus stop and opposite to corporation sub-station. He suggested black topping of Konnur High Road (Bus route road) with inspection at the time of paving the road.
E. Purushothaman, vice-president of Ayanavaram Welfare Association Civic Exnora, suggested that CMWSSB authorities relay underground sewer pipes. As the population of the area was increasing, Ayanavaram needed a new sewage pumping station, he noted.
V.C.A. Nathan from Solai Street complained about poor street lights. K. Kanakasabapathi, representing Chakravarthy Nagar, said the EB transformer needed strengthening.
Varthamaniah, chief manager IOB, Ayanavaram, who was the special guest, asked members to plan ways to keep the neighbourhood clean and green.
