An auto driver handed over a bag containing gold jewellery that was left behind in his vehicle to the police.

Police said that on Wednesday, Nagarani, a resident of Canal Street, Old Washermenpet, was returning home in an auto after attending a wedding in Adyar. Only after reaching her residence did she realise that a small bag containing 12 sovereigns of jewellery was missing. She lodged a complaint and the case was taken up by Washermenpet police.

Auto driver Panneerselvam of Kamesan Nagar found the bag while cleaning his vehicle. He came to the Washermenpet police station and handed the bag over to the inspector. They learnt that the bag belonged to Nagarani and it was returned to her.
