A Research and Development Centre was inaugurated at Prathyusha Institute of Technology and Management (PITAM) by B.W. Ryu, Executive Director, Hyundai Motors Limited, Chennai. On the occasion, Mr. Ryu donated a Hyundai car to the centre.

In his keynote address, he advised the students to invent products or devices which would not destroy the resource of environment.

He also motivated the students to perform well in academics.

Hema Gopal, Vice-President, Tata Consultancy Services;G. Giridhar, Director, Ministry for New and Renewable Energy; and K.S. Dhathathreyan, Associate Director, Centre for Fuel Cell Technology, Chennai; presided over the event.

A.K. Pattabiraman handed over the IIT Alumni Club membership to P. Raja Rao, Chairman, PITAM. .

Ms. Hema Gopal, in her address, emphasised on the importance of research in educational institutions. Mr. Giridhar spoke on achieving a goal.

Mr. Dhathathreyan, in his keynote address, emphasised on conservation of non-renewable energy resources and advised the students to take up green energy projects.

The institution has received a fund of Rs. 50 lakhs from agencies such as ICMR, CSIR, BRNS, AICTE, IEEE Chennai Chapter, Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology.

ICMR has funded a project to develop a web-based system for identification and rehabilitation for dyslexia.

Cash award given away

On the occasion, cash awards were presented to academic performers and first-year students were inducted into their respective streams.
