Private van transporting students turns upside down
Three students -- aged between 11 and 12 -- have been admitted to a hospital and another one sustained minor injuries when a private van taking the four students to their school turned upside down on Pallavaram-Thoraipakkam Radial Road on Wednesday morning.
Traffic police sources said the private van was taking the students to Vel’s Vidyashram in Pallavaram. The van had originated from Madipakkam and had picked up the students from various points. While travelling on the radial road, the van driver Sampath Kumar, a resident of Pallavaram, is reported to have lost control and the vehicle turned upside down and fell on its left side. The accident took place around 8 a.m.
The driver had applied the brakes all of a sudden to avoid ramming into a car ahead of him. The car, police said, too had applied the brakes suddenly when a bus in front of the car swerved to its right suddenly. Three students G.Sundar, N.Andrews and Logesh were admitted to a private hospital in Pallikaranai for injuries. Police said they were out of danger. The van driver has been arrested. Traffic police added that the van did not belong to the school and that it was privately owned.

I have traveled on this road. As you can clearly see from the photograph
a large portion of the road is covered with sand and therefore any
vehicle moving above 50 km will skid and fall or overturn. Why is administration(IT expressway/Highways) not clearing these sand? Arrest
those officials and take action against them.
