A protest demanding more wages by workers who load and unload cylinders at the distributors’ godowns threatens to increase the wait time for Indane customers in the city.
The issue, distributors say, has been affecting their regular supply of loads from the bottling plants over the past few days. The backlog is over 10 days . Chennai Area president of All India Indane Distributors Association A.Ramachandran says the protest hit supplies from both Manali and Ennore bottling plants from where bulk of the city’s LPG requirement are met. The responsibility of loading, unloading the cylinders at the godown, he adds, rests with the transporters.
While workers attached to the trucks from Manali resumed work , operations at Ennore remain hit since Thursday, he says. IOC sources say a meeting is to be held with the transporters on Tuesday.
