A 21-year-old man was bitten by a fox near Perungudi Telephone Nagar on Sunday. Santhosh, employed in a private firm, was playing cricket with his friends on a playground.
He had gone to answer nature’s call when he saw three foxes — he thought they were dogs — in a nearby bush. He threw a stone at them to chase them away but the angry animals pounced on him, he told police. One of them bit his throat. On hearing his cries, his friends rushed to his side. While two of the foxes escaped, the third held on to Santhosh’s throat. The animal was stoned to death. Perungudi police are investigating.

These were fox, but living in Chennai, i also know the menace of stray dogs.
It's high time stray dogs are removed from map of india either through shifting them to dog kennels, sterilizing them or peacefully putting them to sleep.
Stray Dogs are danger to people and kids and if someone want to preserve Indian breed, then there should be law that firs pet of any one should be indian breed dog. but from streets these have to be removed.
Good news is that we still have Fox around us. As urbanisation grows
mankind tend to invade the grasslands and forests. I still remember
the sight of last fox in my life time near Tambaram (current days
Kiskintha area) way back in 1989-90.
With the growing population and migration towards cities is directly
impacting the ecology in the suburbs. The expanding real-estates,
booming industries and thriving economy is making each one of us to
live our life but not the life of our own next/future generation.
Conservation of new forests in waste land, protecting the habitats of
our country is the true gift what we can give to our next generation.
Tiger being in top of the Food Chain is preserved under the directives
of Apex court, same importance should be given to each flora/fauna
which are in-verge of extinct (including our FOX).
Would pray God for the speedy recovery for the boy who was bitten by
the last pack in IT Corridor and wish he plays cricket again.
