Chief Minister Jayalailthaa has sanctioned the purchase of 149 dental chairs at a cost of about Rs. 1.24 crore for the Government Dental College in Chennai.
Aimed at facilitating speedier treatment, the move was also part of the government’s plans to modernise dental colleges in the State, according to an official release issued on Tuesday.
The government had also set apart Rs. 10 crore towards upgrading the Government Dental College and Hospital into Centre of Excellence in Dentistry.

What is the specialty in purchasing some chairs and beds to the
hospitals? The level of service in the Govt hospitals is most
important. No Chief Minister is able to bring any higher standard in the
level of service in the Govt hospitals. The Government o Tamilnadu
should not indulge in making small matters as a great service to the
people of Tamilnadu. The cheap popularity would bring adverse effect.
