The police have arrested a 28-year-old man in connection with the murder of a 19-year-old college student . The girl was found dead under mysterious circumstances in her house on Sunday morning.
According to police, Jayanthi (19), was a resident of Venkatapuram in Little Mount . She was a final year BSc student. She and her mother were living with her grand mother.
“Jayanthi was earlier having a love affair with Appu alias Mohan (28), her uncle’s son, who is a cameraman; later she fell in love with another guy,” said Guindy crime inspector K. Sethu. Mohan allegedly kept pestering her .
On Saturday, Jayanthi was alone on the first floor of her house when Mohan visited her and pleaded again. But as she refused, he strangled her to death. “We came to know that it was a murder from the post mortem. Then we arrested Mohan,” said Mr. Sethu.
