Burglars broke into a house in MKB Nagar and decamped with gold jewellery and cash. The family had gone to Villupuram for the marriage of their daughter.
MKB Nagar police said the burglary took place at the residence of Mallika (45), on 16th Central Cross Street, after she and her family had left on Tuesday night. Mallika and a few others returned to the city on Thursday night. They found the house ransacked and three cupboards in the bedroom broken open. Gold jewellery weighing over 30 sovereigns and Rs. 50,000 in cash was missing. The culprits had gained entry into the house after breaking open a door on the side. A police complaint was filed and investigations are on.
