The South Chennai unit of Adarsh Jain Social Club handed nearly 20,000 free notebooks to students of government schools in East and West Tambaram, Pallavaram, Chromepet, Pallavaram, Chitlapakkam, Madambakkamand Guduvanchery for the sixth year in a row.
The tuition fee for 10 meritorious students was also borne by the club's members. The principal sponsors, according to a press note, were Amarprakash Group, and Vijay Jewellers of Tambaram.
Office-bearers of the club include Rajmal Bansali, president, A. Sudhir Kumar Surana, adviser, Vijayraj Gandhi, book project organiser, and Arun Kumar Gandhi, secretary, the note added.
