How Namakkal pipped Namma Chennai (and the rest of TN) to dominate class XII results
Students from Namakkal stole the show in the state board class XII examination, cornering all the top three ranks in the State in the category of students who studied Tamil as their first language.
According to the higher secondary results declared on Tuesday, students in Tamil Nadu have secured a pass percentage of 86.7, a marginal, 0.8 percentage point increase compared to last year. This is also the highest pass percentage that the State has secured in the past decade.
Girls secured a pass percentage of 89.7, outdoing boys who recorded 83.2 per cent, as has been the case for many years now. As many as 7,56,464 students appeared for the class XII examination held this March, including 3,50,736 girls and 4,05,728 boys. Additionally, 66,744 private candidates took the examination.
Shining the spotlight on Namakkal were six students who bagged the top three ranks. S. Sushmitha of SKV Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Kandampalayam, Namakkal, emerged the first rank holder with a total of 1189. The second rank was shared by three students who scored a total of 1188 – D. Karthika of SKV Matriculation Higher Secondary School, P. Swapna of St. Joseph of Cluny Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Puducherry and V. Pavithra of Prince Matriculation, Madipakkam, Chengalpattu secured the first rank, with a total of 1190 on 1200. Centum tally
As many as 142 students have secured a centum in Physics, a drop from last year’s figure of 646. In Chemistry, 1,444 students scored full marks, and in Mathematics, 2,656 students secured centums.
In accountancy, there is quite a leap in the number of centums — from 1,320 last year to 2518 this year. Similarly, 615 students have secured a centum in computer science while last year, only 223 had scored full marks in the subject.
Keywords: plus two examination, plus two results, class XII results

I fully agree with Mr. Vedagiri. Isn't it about time we introspected and found ways by which students of all groups could be treated equally? While a handful of students bathe under the limelight and get instant recognition for their hard work (no doubt!), think of the millions of others who have to face depression in solitude. This is precisely why we find a number of students going over the edge to find means to 'run away'(ring a bell?) from their misery. Parents are to be blamed for this, as they go around comparing their child(ren)with these children. Is this what we need?
Why is there such a hullabaloo about plus two results ? Without belittling the efforts of our children, I would say that our schools impart very little practically useful knowledge. A plus two passed (with the highest marks) is not a superboy or girl who can twist the world, but the way print and electronic media go about this busines, it seems to be so ! On the flip side, the wholly unwarranted media hype on the plus two results leads to tragic results in the personal lives of every so many students who could not steal the limelight by scoring 99% and above. Let us not lose our balance please and let us view things in proper perspective.
Its good to hear that Girls are coming state first every year...but there is another rumour that boys are not coming first here is the reason becoz boys will never memories and give it exams that's why after state first girl disappeared when they entered into Graduate degrees added too boys are holding good ranks in Entrance exam but not girls,........
Good Show. Congratulations to all the achievers.
The coursework set by the eminent teachers need to see the contents and the way it needs to be taught to students. Securing 100% means the person has mastered everything he/she had studied from Class I to Class XII. Are they really? Can we see these students as the experts in those subjects where they secured 100%?
Namakkal I remember only Lord Anjaneyar Temple. Now, it is more famous because of the Toppers in Plus 12. I sincerely pray Lord Anjaneyar to give those Toppers and to the schools courage and strength in the future also. Good Luck
Congratulations for the teachers of the SKV Matriculation HSSchool for achieving the first three places out of a staggering total of over 7.5 lakhs.Though significant part of the credit must go to the rank- achieving students,it is,in my opinion, the teachers who have been able to foresee not only the comprehensive list of expectable questions but more importantly to prepare the perfect answers so that maximum marks can be secured,no matter who the examiners are.The probability that this can be achieved is about 2.5 times in a million timestrillion ( 10 to the exponent negative fifteen)makes this look like a fiction than reality. Awesome for an institution in what one speaks of a 'mofussil' district! Or,has the educational policy of successive governments of the last sixty years in Tamil Nadu erased the difference in the levels between cities and rurals by raising the levels of the latter to the former? In which case,Hail! The Edn Dept of Tamil Nadu!!
After securing first second ranks these boys and girls want to become Doctors Engineers But no body wants to become a good teacher and help poor students to come up in eduction and life
