In view of the rush to Marina Beach in the evening during summer, the Chennai City Traffic Police (CCTP) has announced traffic diversions from April 29 between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. until the end of summer. This is expected to ease the traffic flow on Kamarajar Salai between the stretch from Adams Road up to Kannagi Statue.
All vehicles from Gandhi Statue going north, will not be allowed towards Labour Statue and will have to take a left towards Bharathi Salai via Bells Road, Wallajah Road and Kamarajar Salai. Vehicles from War Memorial towards Gandhi Statue will be allowed as usual.
Bells Road will be made a one-way with entry from Bharathi Salai. The stretch on Wallajah road from Bells Road Junction to Labour Statue Junction, will also be made a one-way with entry from Bells Road Junction. The stretch on Bharathi Salai from Kannagi Statue Junction to Bells Road Junction will be made a one-way with entry from Kamarajar Salai and Kannagi Statue Junction.
For vehicles from Kamarajar Salai to Foreshore Service Road, entry will be from Seeraniarangam, Vivekanandhar Illam, Slum Clearance Board and opposite DGP Office. Vehicles can exit through the Marina Beach Swimming Pool exit point, Lloyds Road Junction and Light House.
