Hot choclate, masala tea and sandwiches on offer at select outlets in the city; Aavin goes in for expansion and upgradation
The next time you step into an Aavin outlet, don't just stick to lassi or buttermilk. Try hot chocolate, or if you are hungry, how about a quick bite of cheese sandwich? These items and many more are on offer at select Aavin parlours in the city.
The Tamil Nadu Co-operative Milk Producers' Federation Limited has introduced new beverages and snacks to attract a wider clientele.
Apart from hot chocolate and cheese sandwich, masala tea, ginger tea/coffee, pista/badam milk, vegetable soup and vegetable sandwiches are on offer at Aavin parlours in Anna Nagar and Ezhilagam. A few outlets also stock slim milk icecream and probiotic curd.
While hot chocolate is priced at Rs. 15, the other beverages are sold at Rs.10 a cup. Cheese sandwich is priced at Rs. 20 and if you want one to go, the staff will wrap it for you in aluminium foil.
Pizzas are available at the Anna Nagar and Adyar outlets for Rs. 50.
Aavin has been on an expansion drive in recent times and opened several new parlours across the city. A few weeks ago, it opened two parlours at SAF Games Village and Mogappair West. With these, the number of outlets has increased to 60.
“We are upgrading facilities at parlours in Koyambedu Bus Terminus, Nandanam, Secretariat and Madhavaram. Though milk is our primary product, we don't get much profit out of it. On the other hand, sale of milk-based products like khoa, gulab jamun, mysore pak and badam mix powder generate higher revenue,” said Dairy Development Minister V. Moorthi.
“Depending on the response to the new products, Aavin will upgrade more parlours. Our aim is to make quality products available at modest rates to consumers,” said Fisheries and Dairy Development Secretary Gagandeep Singh Bedi.
The Federation has over 150 franchise outlets.
