“We share CSK's beliefs in nutrition and fitness”

“I hate apples,” said Chennai Super Kings player Abhinav Mukund addressing presspersons in the city on Friday. Such a confession initiated much laughter since he was representing his team at the launch of Washington Apples becoming the team's ‘official fruit'. After being lauded for his honesty, he continued: “My mom and I had a good laugh about this since I am the kind of person who runs away from a room when there is an apple.”

Whether he likes it or not, Mr. Mukund will now be confronted with the fruit in the team's dressing room, since the Washington Apples Commission (WAC) announced its partnership with two-time IPL champions CSK. “Chennai accounts for 60 per cent of WAC's market in India,” said Keith Sunderlal of The SCS Group, adding how Chennai was the key port of entry and distribution. “We are promoting Washington Apples as a healthy snack and we share CSK's beliefs in nutrition and fitness. Our association will further raise awareness of Washington Apples with the end consumers”

Mr.Sunderlal also said that such collaboration will benefit domestic apple producers. “Through this partnership, awareness about apples will increase thereby benefitting the local producers.”

CSK cricketer, S. Badrinath, said the team was happy to be in such an association. “I am a fruit lover and for fitness, apples are top priority.”
