The vehicle hit a transformer when he took a u-turn

A lorry driver was electrocuted when he accidently brushed his vehicle past an electric transformer in an attempt to take a sharp u-turn in Thoraipakkam.

Thoraipakkam police said the incident took place at 10.15 a.m. on Wednesday at Sulaiman Nagar, Mettukuppam, when the driver, Babu (20) from Karnataka, was driving the lorry loaded with bricks. He was searching for the address where he had to unload the consignment. After realising that he has gone ahead of the destination, he took a u-turn and in the process the lorry hit a transformer. High voltage current passed through the vehicle and Babu was electrocuted.

A police team reached the spot and recovered the body from the lorry. Following preliminary investigations, the body was sent to Government Royapettah Hospital for post-mortem, police added.
