Anna varsity to organise short film festival

The Department of Media Sciences, Anna University, is organising Gateway awards ’09, a national-level short film festival here on September 15 and 16.

Students from colleges throughout India can compete in various events that would test their intellectual and creative skills. Nearly 150 media colleges across the country, including from Pune, Mumbai, Kolkata and Delhi, are expected to participate.

The awards provide a platform for emerging film makers, ad makers and designers. The event encourages the participants to generate novel themes and ideas. Contests for short films, ad films and design will be held. Gateway conferences will also be conducted as part of the event.

Short films will be screened at Inox on September 15 and Gateway conference will be held at Vivekananda auditorium, Anna University, on September 16.

Short and ad filmmakers, directors and other noted media personalities are expected to attend the conference. The event will have interactive sessions, lectures, workshops, discussions and a session on digital cinema.
