Air India plane grounded at Chennai airport

An in-flight catering vehicle hit the wingtip of a parked Air India aircraft on bay 22 at the Chennai airport on Sunday morning. Following the accident, the aircraft has been grounded.

Airport sources said that the Air India plane AA570 came to bay number 22 at the terminal around 8.45 a.m. The in-flight catering vehicle of Oberoi Flight Kitchen came to the nearby bay around 9 a.m. for the Jet Airways flight. At that time it hit the wingtip of the Air India aircraft.

Air India sources said following the accident the Airbus 319-type aircraft was grounded. The national carrier arranged an alternative aircraft for the passengers, the sources added.
