AIADMK violating model code, says Karunanidhi

September 26, 2011 09:35 am | Updated August 04, 2016 01:31 am IST - CHENNAI:

Alleging that the State government was implementing welfare measures and issuing transfer orders in the police and school education departments in violation of the model code of conduct, DMK president M. Karunanidhi on Sunday wondered whether the State Election Commissioner would look into these issues at all.

In a statement here, Mr. Karunanidhi said though he was happy with the State government's announcement on providing additional water supply to Pallavaram, Pammal and Anakaputhur, these measures had clearly violated the model code of conduct.

“What does the State Election Commission propose to do?,” he asked.

As regards the Cabinet resolution urging the Centre to allay the fears of the local people before commissioning the nuclear power plants, the Chief Minister said the AIADMK government had not adopted any resolution in the Cabinet for recommending commutation of the death sentence awarded to the three convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.
