India should ensure that the Parliamentary delegation to Sri Lanka succeeds in its mission of finding a political solution to the ethnic problem, CPI (M) State secretary G. Ramakrishnan said on Monday.
In a statement here, he said that instead of keeping away from the delegation, the DMK, an ally of the Congress-led UPA at the Centre, and the AIADMK should have been part of it.
“Representatives of the CPI and the Viduthalai Chiruthaikal Katchi too should have been included in the team.”
Mr. Ramakrishnan said that though the war between the Sri Lankan Army and the LTTE was over three years ago, no proper solution had been found to the ethnic issue. “Leaders of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) have held parleys with the government 11 times in the last three years. But nothing concrete has emerged.”
Recalling the TNA's demand for a political solution to the Sri Lankan Tamil issue, merger of North and Eastern provinces and complete autonomy for these areas, and immediate implementation of the report of the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC), Mr. Ramakrishnan said that his party had also adopted a resolution supporting these demands at its recent conference at Kozhikode.
He said that the report the Indian delegation was expected to submit on its return should lead to a permanent solution to the problems of the Sri Lankan Tamils.

There is a political issue between the majority and the minority races since Sri Lanka's independence from the British rule.Sinhala only act, Colonisation, non admission to Universities for the minorities,no power sharing in the legislature for the minorities and many more. That is why the Tamil militants took up to arms which doesn't justify as the war affected the country and all citizens. If the government is for the all the people then there shouldn't be a partisan and racial attitude. The time will tell.
There is no political issue to find a political solution. The Sri Lanka constitution provides all ethnicities equal rights and they have all the fundamental rights similar to most democratic countries. The problem is in implimentation of some of the conditions. The current disputes are a results partly due to Indian politicians including Indira Gandhi for training & supporting terrorists in India to destabilze Sri Lanka as Sri Lanka was alligning towards USA when India was in the cadle of USSR. This created a huge void between the communities of Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka has certain bad politicians & we dont need a similar set of people to come & advise how to sort out our problems. You settle the vast no. of problems you have, we will solve our few.
