A woman has allegedly sought police help to locate her husband who went missing 15 years ago from Ambattur. She lodged a complaint at Korattur police station on Sunday evening. A case has been registered and a search is on for the missing person.

Sources with the Korattur police said the missing person – Raghuraman (now 45-years of age) – a resident of South Mada Street in Ambattur, was working as a car driver with a private party. On December 11, 1996, Raghuraman left home after informing his wife Jeevalakshmi that he was going to work.

He didn't return home ever since and his whereabouts remained unknown for all these years.

More than 15 years after Raghuraman went missing, Jeevalakshmi came with a lawyer to the Korattur police station on Sunday evening and lodged a man missing complaint, sources added.

“We asked her what took her so long but she stressed that she was uneducated and ignorant and didn't know how to go about the procedure.

However, we registered a Community Service Register (CSR) on the complaint and will take our best efforts to locate the missing man,” said an investigating officer attached to the Korattur police.

Jeevalakshmi's daughter is scheduled to get married in a few months and it is suspected that her family members plan to divide a property in which Raghuraman also has a share.

Therefore, they require a certificate or some sort of proof to show that the person is missing, the officer added.
