Aavin told to study milk demand

Officials of Aavin have been asked to carry out a survey of the demand for milk in the suburbs of Chennai and other cities.

Mooting this idea at a meeting here to review the functioning of Aavin, Dairy Development Minister B.V. Ramanaa wanted the officials to have milk cards issued to people living in the suburbs.

He also directed the officials to take steps for the supply of milk and by-products to bulk consumers, including caterers and canteens attached to big establishments, an official release said.

The meeting was attended by Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries Secretary S. Vijayakumar and Managing Director of Aavin, Sunil Paliwal.
