Aavin has combined the goodness of fruits and milk in 200 ml packs with the launch of fruit-based milkshakes.
Banana, apple and vanilla-orange milkshakes are now available along with the existing flavours of vanilla, carrot, vanilla malt and chocolate.
“Children can take these milkshake packs to school. They contain minerals and proteins,” said minister for milk and dairy development, V. Moorthy, who kickstarted the sale of the seven varieties that are priced at Rs. 20 each.
Toned milk with 3 per cent fat and 8.5 per cent solids non-fat (SNF) is used to prepare the milkshakes that have a shelf life of 120 days.
The milkshakes are manufactured at the Salem District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union of the Tamil Nadu Cooperative Milk Producers Federation Limited, popularly known as Aavin. The unit can pack upto 10,000 litres a day. Aavin’s managing director T.K. Ramachandran, joint managing director N. Subbaiyan and general manager (marketing) S.K. Kadhirvelu, were also present during the launch.
Aavin has also begun sales of sweet milk bread at Rs. 20 for a 300 gm pack. Bread too is available in the Federation’s parlours.
