This year’s Daan Utsav chalked up yet another achievement when the longest photo cake in the country was displayed in the city on Tuesday.

Highlighting the theme ‘A tribute to women in cinema’, the cake had photos of several actors.

Actor Suhasini Maniratnam inaugurated the function at Pheonix Mall.

Boopesh, head chef of The French Loaf and Le Chocolatier, said the eggless photo cake weighing 1,000 kilograms features the photographs of 1,000 women, who contributed to cinema.

Delicious spread

The cake is spread over 100 metres and took 560 kg of chocolate mix, 150 kg of cream, 352 kg of dark chocolate, 100 kg of white chocolate and 1,000 sugar sheets to prepare, he added.

The proceeds from the photo cake will be distributed to city-based NGOs, including Tanker Foundation, Jeevan Stem Cell Foundation and Naam Foundation.

M. Mahadevan, chairman and managing director, Oriental Cuisines, participated in the event.
