The Car Free Sundays on Elliot’s Beach in Besant Nagar, featuring zumba dancing, free cycling and other entertainment activities, have been a hit among locals. Now, they have another attraction: The Hindu Reading Zone.

The zone with cosy seats in a 200 sq. ft. space was opened on Sunday and beach-goers used it for a three-hour period.

The zone has been created for those visiting the beach to sit and read The Hindu in a relaxed manner. They will also have the opportunity to browse through several special publications from the newspaper’s stable.

M. Rohini, a regular visitor to the beach on Sunday mornings, said the newly refurbished zone would attract a large number of walkers.

Book swap section

The book swap section at the Reading Zone allows readers to take their book of choice by replacing it with a book from their own collection. Car Free Sunday is open from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.
