That Sunday evening, rain clouds were hovering over the coast of Chennai, threatening to pummel the city with an iron fist. Photographers from the group Chennai Photowalk had planned a unique walk a month in advance, and they were not going to give up on it. So, ignoring the threat from the skies, over 70 photographers got started on this ‘walk’ with their high-zoom cameras.

In all the other photo walks they had done before, they would begin at a specific location and walk down a pre-planned route soaking in the history of the place, and clicking whatever they encountered on the way and documenting Chennai in the process. The start point for this walk —which is Photowalk’s 116th — was 100 feet above ground level. And, they stayed there all through the walk, letting their cameras zoom in on some of the most eye-catching aspects of the city. The photo walk unfolded atop Lebra Towers (formerly known as Sterling Towers) and captured Chennai’s night skyline over concrete structures in Alwarpet, Teynampet and T. Nagar.

Before that, the photographers had got to train their cameras on these structures from Cafe Nirvana that is attached to BOT VFX, a VFX company located on the tenth floor of the building.

Atop the building, photographers took out their tripods, monopods and other equipment to capture long exposures, zoom bursts and nightscapes of Chennai city.

In the end, it turned out to be a wonderful evening where some great moments were captured.

The photo walkers thanked the team at BOT VFX and walked into the evening when the clouds burst into rain. Chennai Photowalk is an open community where anyone who wants to walk and click are welcome to join. Chennai Photowalk organises photo walks on the second and fourth Sunday on every Month.
