In a bid to attract youngsters towards philately, the Department of Posts has launched a scholarship scheme, the ‘Deen Dayal Sparsh Yojana’.

On Tuesday, scholarships were distributed to about 40 students from Classes IV-IX.

Officials of the postal department said the participants were chosen based on a quiz on general knowledge and philately. They were also given philately themes on which they had to make projects.

The best 40 projects were chosen for a scholarship worth ₹6,000 that will be deposited in their postal accounts. M. Sampath, Chief Postmaster General, Tamil Nadu circle, distributed the certificates. He also released a special cover on Stephen Hawking.
