The city police on Friday redeployed personnel along Kamarajar Road following reports that youth may congregate at the Marina again in view of the recent political developments.

Armed police constables along with city police personnel have been posted at vantage points from Light House to Labour Statue, sources said.

However, police personnel deployed at the Centenary Auditorium, University of Madras, have been withdrawn. Following V.K. Sasikala’s election as the AIADMK legislature party leader, the authorities spruced up the auditorium for her swearing-in as the Chief Minister.

Iron barricades erected around the area and poles which were in place around the platform to regulate the crowd have all been removed.

A senior police officer, however, said security had been provided to Poes Garden to ensure that there were no untoward incidents.
