NFDC consultant for Amma Theatre project

The National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) is set to play a key role in the implementation of Amma Theatre project in Chennai. The Greater Chennai Corporation has decided to use its services for the project.

“Officials from National Film Development Corporation will visit locations identified for development of Amma Theatres shortly,” said a Corporation official.

They are likely to visit areas such as Ramapuram, Kotturpuram, Basin Bridge, T.Nagar, Shenoy Nagar and Mogappair East. Parcels of land and buildings have already been identified for the project to develop Amma Theatres in such areas.

The NFDC will be the consultant for the project and is expected to make key recommendations relating to development of the facilities, pricing of tickets and screening of movies.

Over the years, the NFDC has provided a wide range of services essential for the growth of Indian cinema, and in more recent years, full fledged state of the art viewing halls.

The NFDC is likely to be involved with funding the project too, sources said. The corporation is the central agency to encourage cinema in the country. Its primary goal is to promote integrated development of the industry and foster excellence in cinema.

As a consultant it is expected to make key recommendations regarding development of facilities
