S. Davidson Devasirvatham, IPS, has been removed from the post of Inspector-General of Police, Intelligence, Chennai.

According to a Home Department press release, Mr. Davidson is transferred and posted as IGP (Welfare) Chennai in the existing vacancy.

This is the first major transfer of a bureaucrat after Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami took charge.

The transfer of the 1995-batch IPS officer assumes significance as he was posted as Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Intelligence hardly a week ago.

Mr. Davidson had earlier served as the Chief of Intelligence for a few months in 2015.
