: Literally every inch of the high security zone inside the Madras High Court has been brought under the constant surveillance of over 200 high-end CCTV cameras.
On Tuesday, the Chief Justice S.K. Kaul commissioned the cameras bringing the campus under the watchfull eyes of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which has been providing security to the campus since November 2015.
The cameras will be controlled and monitored from the high-tech control room established for this purpose in the office of the Senior Commandant, located in the court premises.
As an unprecedented move, CCTV cameras have also been installed inside the court halls, including the First Court where the Chief Justice sits.
It must be recalled that a Division Bench headed by the Chief Justice ordered CISF security for the campus in September, 2015, after the Tamil Nadu police Foce failed to prevent agitating advocates from entering the court halls.
