Seven students from an Adi Dravidar School in Ponpadi in Tiruvallur district were admitted to the Tiruttani Government Hospital due to fever, vomiting and diarrhoea.
“All the students, who are in Classes VI to VIII, are expected to be discharged by Tuesday,” said J. Prabakaran, Deputy Director, Health Services, Tiruvallur.
‘Rumours untrue’
“Two of the children had fever three days ago and four had vomiting and diarrhoea. They are all fine now. Claims that these were Measles Rubella vaccine-related reactions are not true. The children were given the vaccine on February 9,” he said.
Dr. Prabakaran said 168 houses in the area were also surveyed, and barring a 21-year-old man with mild fever and a runny nose, no other cases were found.
