A 60-year-old man sustained injuries on his leg after a bullet, fired from the range at Indian Air Force Station, Tambaram, went off trajectory.

V. Jayaraman of Peerkankaranai, was on his way home on Monday afternoon, when he felt a sharp pain in his lower left leg. He later found his leg was bleeding profusely and went to a private hospital. After a series of referrals, tests established the injury was caused by a bullet. A portion of the bulllet was removed after a minor surgery.

The timing of practice sessions at IAF Station confirmed that it was from a bullet fired by a trainee there, the police said.

Mr. Jayaraman, a real estate businessman, is out of danger.
