The Thirumangalam police arrested a 42-year-old man who married for the fourth time, concealing the fact he had been married thrice earlier at his native place in Erode.

According to an officer at the Thirumangalam all-women police station (AWPS), Anthony Cruz, who works as a supervisor at a parcel firm in the city, was living in Thirumangalam with his new bride, a 42-year-old engineering college professor. He had married her on May 5, keeping her in dark about his three previous marriages.

“Following the demise of his first wife more than five years ago, Cruz remarried in Thirukovilur. Concealing this second marriage, he entered into wedlock again, with another woman, a few years ago. He then left both the women and migrated to Chennai, and married the woman professor,” said an investigating officer.

One of the abandoned women, who learnt about Cruz’s fourth wedding, wrote a letter to the woman professor, following which she made enquires and found the truth.

She then lodged a complaint with the Thirumangalam AWPS, which registered a case and arrested Cruz on Monday morning. He was remanded to custody and sent to Puzhal prison, said the officer.
