As part of 150 birth anniversary celebrations of Swami Vivekananda, Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai, in collaboration with Ramakrishna Mission, New Delhi, and Global Institute for Stereo Vision and Research(GISR), Chennai, has launched a Stereoscopic 3D movie on Swami Vivekananda’s historic Chicago speech at the World Parliament of Religions on September 11, 1893. The launch took place at Vivekanandar Illam.

The movie titled ‘9/11 – The Awakening’ features important excerpts from Swamiji’s speech on September 11. The movie and 3D website, ‘www.vivekananda3d.org’ was launched by the Indian Institute of Technology-Madras (IIT-M) Director, Dr. Bhaskar Ramamurthy, on September 16 in the presence of Swami Gautamananda, Adhyaksha, Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai.

The speech, which began with ‘Brothers and Sisters of America’ throws light on India, Hinduism, world harmony, and religious tolerance. A realistic 3D model of Swami Vivekananda has been created for the movie, and motion capture technology has been used with an actor playing the role of Swami Vivekananda.

The movie also features ‘The Empress of India ship’ that Swamiji travelled during his journey to the West. It has been depicted similar to Hollywood animated-movies.

Excellent background score

The highlight of the movie is its excellent background score and the backdrop setup of the Parliament of Religions venue The Art Institute of Chicago, with an audience of 7,000 people.

The famous story of sea frog and well frog, as told by Swami Vivekananda, has also been depicted in the movie with live recording of sound effects to entertain children.

The 15-minute 3D movie will be screened every half-an-hour from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and from 3.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. at Stereoscopic 3D Movie Theatre, except on Wednesdays.

Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai, as part of the sesquicentennial year celebrations, has already launched a Holographic Display System (HDS) and India’s first 3D stereoscopic animated short movie on Swami Vivekananda.

The short movie is aimed at educating the youth of modern India about Swami Vivekananda, his life and teachings.It is a compilation of points taken from his lecture during his stay in Chennai from Feb. 6 to 15, 1897.
