35-year-old man jumps from 4th floor to avoid police, dies

A 35-year-old man died after he jumped from the fourth floor of a building when police personnel chased him for an inquiry in connection with a criminal case against him in Kannagi Nagar.

According to police sources, Movin (35) lived in one of the tenements of the Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board in Kannagi Nagar.

He was accused of assaulting his mother-in-law, Mohana. In connection with the complaint, a police constable went to his residence for inquiry. On seeing the police constable, Movin started to run and jumped from the fourth floor of the building. As he was greviuosly injured, he was rushed to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital. However, he succumbed to the injuries on Monday.

A heavy posse of police personnel were deployed around Kannagi Nagar police station to prevent untoward incidents.
