The organs of a 34-year-old man were donated at SIMS Hospital, Vadapalani, a press release said.

The donor, Tamil Selvan, from Siruthondamadevi village, worked as a driver in Singapore. He had visited his hometown to initiate the construction of his home and to vacation with his family, but suffered a serious head injury when he took his motorcycle to run some errands on February 8. He was rushed to a hospital in Puducherry and then shifted to SIMS on February 9.

Despite efforts to stabilise him, he was declared brain dead on Wednesday. His wife, Mrs. Guna Sundari, volunteered to donate her husband’s organs and the hospital harvested the liver, kidneys and heart.

While the liver and one kidney were transplanted at the hospital, the other kidney and heart were sent to other hospitals in Chennai, the press release said.
