A 30-year-old transvestite was found murdered in a crematorium in Gerugambakkam near Porur on Sunday morning.

Police suspect the victim was killed by a friend in a drunken brawl.

The Mangadu police identified the deceased as Harikrishnan, a resident of MGR Street, Gerugambakkam.

He served as a priest and fortune teller at a temple in the neighbourhood. Harikrishnan was last seen with his friend Rajesh (32), also from Gerugambakkam, on Friday night walking towards the burial ground.

The victim’s family members, including his younger brother Vijay (24), looked for Harikrishnan the whole of Saturday but could not locate him.

On Sunday morning, Harikrishnan’s body was found, buried under some bricks in the cremation area, by some people who came to the spot. A team from the Mangadu police station recovered the body after preliminary probe.

It is suspected the victim and Rajesh consumed alcohol on the burial ground and soon after, an argument broke out between them.

Rajesh may have attacked Harikrishnan with a stone killing him, the police said. A search is on for Rajesh.
