3 new cases of A (H1N1) in city

Three persons in the city and one from Tiruchi tested positive for A (H1N1) taking the total number to 127 in the State on Friday. The infected in Chennai include a 25-year-old man, and two women in their 20s. A 30-year-old woman from Tiruchi tested positive for the infection.

According to Director of Public Health R.T. Porkai Pandian, genomic studies of the virus reflected no difference from the virus in 2009. He added that due to timely application of Tamiflu and the availability of vaccines, the virulence of the virus seems to have reduced.

The government recently identified 12 private laboratories where the samples of throat swabs could be sent for testing.
