The city police arrested three persons, including a lorry driver, on charges of stealing oil from tankers in New Washermanpet.

Based on a complaint filed by G. Srinivas, an oil company manager, police arrested lorry driver K. Pachaiyappan, 53, of Kolathur and two of his accomplices, for stealing oil from tankers parked on New Vaidyanathan Street in New Washermenpet.

The complainant said that the tanker with a full load of oil was parked on the street to be delivered to the client next day.

When the lorry reached the client’s spot, they found that the tanker was not full and complained to the supplier.

Police also recovered three barrels of oil from them.

They were remanded in judicial custody after being produced before a city court.
