Three persons were arrested on Saturday for distributing lamps to voters in R.K. Nagar. Following a complaint, a flying squad, along with police personnel, rushed to Thiruvalluvar Quarters in Ward 40, where a few persons were found distributing traditional lamps while campaigning for the O. Panneerselvam faction of AIADMK.

Two persons — Sivakumar and Prasanna — were arrested and based on their confession, another person, Gopinath from Thirvallur, was apprehended. Police seized 15 lamps, two cars and a bike from them. The trio was remanded.

Meanwhile, on behalf of MGR Amma Deepa Peravai, former Minister Pandurangan and others gave a representation to the Returning Officer seeking the prevention of money distribution to voters.
